Job Description

Participates as an entry-level team member on all sizes of financial advisory engagements supporting information technology (IT) and/or business process sourcing initiatives. Performs research/data gathering; data input and manipulation; and review, comparison, and analysis of complex information on sourcing advisor engagements. Participates as part of an advisory team in the delivery of TPI methodology and financial advisory tools in support of client sourcing initiatives, including strategic assessments; service provider selection; contracting strategy and negotiations support; and service provider management.

Related Work Experience

  • 0 to 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Exposure and experience related to sourcing or consulting environment is highly desirable
  • Understanding and use of financial concepts (e.g., discounted cash flows, amortization/depreciation, business case development, sensitivity analysis and associated trending, etc.)
  • Ability to use financial modeling software. Background in financial, contract and/or project management is desirable

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics or Economics

Travel Requirements

  • 0 to 35 percent (depending on assignment)
  • While this position is located in Detroit/Troy, Michigan, there are requirements for some travel. At a minimum, the employee should be able to perform a reasonable amount of business travel, including two to three TPI conferences per year. In other cases, client-related travel may result in up to an estimated 35 percent travel to various client locations.

    In the event that opportunities in the Detroit/Troy area decrease, the employee is advised that continued employment is based on, among other considerations, the willingness and ability to travel full-time, typically in excess of 40 weeks per year.

Computer Literacy

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software application, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of communication tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Win-ZIP, VPN, Vignette, etc.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exposure to and experience with financial modeling software, especially Microsoft Office products

Essential Duties

  • With assistance, develop work product and deliverables consistent with TPI quality standards
  • Completes all TPI training courses as directed
  • Utilizes technical knowledge to assist clients with sourcing evaluations
  • Develops financial models
  • Communicates project status to senior staff
  • Utilizes technical knowledge to assist advisors with sourcing evaluations
  • Assists with preparation of data analysis
  • Utilizes TPI tools as required
  • Manages projects to time estimates
  • Documents issues and questions for project team use
  • Working knowledge of IT budgets and the budgeting process
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet tools including Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to adapt client data to TPI financial model templates
  • Ability to assist a client with preparation of a base case
  • Ability to assist with the financial aspects of RFPs
  • Ability to follow TPI templates to produce comparative analysis of service provider proposals
  • Performs quality assurance functions
  • Effectively prioritizes and manages multiple tasks
  • Seeks and accepts direction from senior staff
