Tom Lang brings considerable experience in information technology and sourcing transactions to TPI’s clients in his role as Partner and Managing Director of TPI's Industry Verticals. Tom advises clients in all aspects of their sourcing alternatives, including developing sourcing strategies and associated governance models required to achieve long-term value. His expertise includes assessing sourcing management organizations and processes, and designing new sourcing management operating models. In addition, he has experience delivering large complex transformation projects, negotiating and managing technical service provider contracts, benchmarking, creating and leveraging intellectual property, and leading large teams.

Prior to joining TPI, Tom worked in senior management positions at AT&T, including Vice President of Outsourcing and Operations, and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. As the governance executive for the AT&T IT Outsourcing Center of Excellence, he managed a large multi-billion dollar, multi-vendor application development and infrastructure sourcing environment. He managed these contracts through multiple renegotiations, benchmarkings, scope changes, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and significant offshore transitions. In addition, he managed teams that created and enhanced key Web sites supporting e-commerce and directed the Intellectual Property team to create, leverage and monetize the AT&T patent portfolio. As the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Tom assembled and managed a team responsible for designing, developing and delivering large strategic software applications to support the multi-billion dollar AT&T Business Markets division. At AT&T Consumer Markets, he designed and successfully implemented a program to build and source billing and collection software and operations for the consumer long distance unit. Earlier in his career at AT&T, Tom worked in customer account management, marketing and numerous positions in the Finance organization, including financial analysis, revenue accounting and contract auditing.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from West Virginia University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in addition to having completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School.
