Objectives

  • Achieve multi-year targeted G&A expense reduction
  • Consolidate outsourced services with fewer service providers
  • Integrate a robust, internally developed, self-service capability
  • Review/recommend technology delivery strategy

Scope

  • HR business process outsourcing - Annual HR and HR IT spend of US$58.1 million; US$26 million in-scope for sourcing analysis
  • Functions included in analysis: compensation, benefits administration, HRIS, HR application support, HR infrastructure, staffing, learning, shared service contact center
  • US$7.1 million of the US$26 million already being spent on various outside service providers
  • Complex HR delivery mechanisms already in place: extensive self-service and multiple sourcing relationships

Results

  • Strategic review of HR delivery indicated potential savings could be achieved with alternative sourcing strategy
  • Two service providers proposed options with annual savings from 12 to 17 percent. Both had strong relationships with the client and included varying use of offshore resources to provide savings
  • Strategy recommendation to explore a staged migration leveraging existing relationships, proposals received and concurrent with the terminations of existing service provider contracts
  • The annual savings are expected to be above target.
