TPI Announces Results of Standards Initiatives for Maturing HRO Market

Alignment Will Allow Buyers, Providers to Agree on Measurement

HOUSTON, May 14, 2007 - To help human resources outsourcing (HRO) buyers achieve congruency in their contracting arrangements, TPI joined with leading HRO service providers over the last year to create a common language for creating, measuring and maintaining HRO relationships. TPI, the leading sourcing advisor, worked with several of the world’s foremost HRO providers, including ACS, Convergys, ExcellerateHRO, Fidelity and Hewitt to establish standards truly representative of the HRO industry.

Working with HRO providers, TPI created a framework for a common taxonomy for HRO services, as well as standard pricing units and a robust set of service levels across all HR processes. As the HRO market continues to mature, TPI expects to see more standardization for service offerings, pricing norms and service levels.

“In the early years of HRO, there were different ways of describing, pricing and measuring services,” said Debora Card, project director of Human Resources Advisory Services at TPI. “As the market continues to mature, we wanted to combine input from the major service provider experts in HRO with TPI’s depth of expertise in the market to rationalize some of these basic constructs across the industry.”

The results of this year-long collaboration are now available and provide a baseline framework to:

  • Establish common vernacular across service providers to discuss HRO services with clients
  • Facilitate evaluation and pricing of services, reducing unnecessary variability across the service provider community
  • Educate clients on outsourced delivery models
  • Improve success of outsourced relationships
  • Provide a basis for developing industry benchmarks
